At first glance, the Edifier Coolware Music 800 may seem to look like any other standard headset. Upon close inspection, it is actually one of those headsets that would give you a good comfort when you are using it. Question is: does it sound great?
The Edifier Coolware Music 800 is marketed as DJ headphone, as showcased by its design. The extendable headband is padded and gives a comfortable fit when you wear it. The earcups are covered with a soft leather material than helps isolate noise when listening. One problem we particularly had was the sweat that comes from our ears. It may be uncomfortable for some, since it gets the headphones wet. Once you get that out of the way, the Coolware Music 800 definitely gave a snuggling fit to our ears. The wires though come from each earpiece, and might be cumbersome for people since it may always get in the way. Wire-wise, we’d prefer a design wherein the wire could run to one side of the earphone.
The Edifier Coolware Music 800 performed very well on our tests. Treble was very clear, and stereo separation was very good. Sound isolation was first-rate. The only quip we had is that the bass seemed little soft. Though it sounded good, we felt something was lacking. Otherwise, this is a solid pair of headphones.
Rating: 3.5 / 5.0
Pros: Comfortable to wear. Good sound quality.
Cons: Wire design can be better.
Bottomline: A good alternative to premium-priced headphones.
Sensitivity: 105 dB SPL per 1 mW
